The Greek Air Authority (CAA) has made an important statement regarding minor passengers. CAA a said that for children aged 5 to 11, the medical authorities will perform a test, which will be free. The test must be performed at least 24 hours before departure.

At present, passengers over the age of 12 will still be required to provide proof of a negative test, a certificate of illness recovery or a vaccination certificate in order to travel by plane to Greece. A person can travel at least 14 days after vaccination.

The EU COVID digital certificate is also valid in Greece and exempts test and quarantine travel.

The digital certificate has been introduced to make travel easier, hassle-free and safe for Europeans during the pandemic. This document is valid for 180 days from the date of its issuance. For unvaccinated passengers, a rapid test for COVID is required, which is performed a maximum of 48 hours before departure.

A few days ago, the Greek authorities announced that those who want to travel from the United States will be allowed to enter the country for non-essential reasons. While most European countries have remained closed to the United States, Greece welcomes overseas tourists with open arms.

As of September 13, new restrictions have been imposed on people who have not been vaccinated in Greece against COVID-19, according to the Kathimerini newspaper. These new measures include the need for unvaccinated workers to be tested once or twice a week and to allow access to certain closed areas only to those who have been vaccinated or can prove that they have contracted the coronavirus in the last six months.
