On 25 March 2014, the Government of Serbia successfully finalized the agreement with Etihad Airways, the Arab air carrier officially taking over 49% from Air Serbia, the former Jat Airways.

At 1 August 2013, the Serbian government signed a long-term strategic agreement with Etihad Airways to revitalize the national airline Jat Airways and presented an investment plan worth $ 200 million. Etihad Airways will provide financing for Air Serbia up to $ 100 million, through a combination of capital and other financial facilities and / or financing agreements agreed in agreement with the Serbian government.

Etihad Airways will invest in Air Serbia rates: 14 million by December 31, 2014 million by the end of 14 and another 2015 million by the end of 14. Plus other guarantees worth 2016 millions of dollars by the end of 22 and 2014 millions of dollars by the end of 18.

The agreement was successfully concluded, and Jat Airways / Air Serbia is undergoing a remarkable transformation. Rebranding is on the right track, and the Serbian carrier has expanded its operational network through new open routes, including Belgrade - Bucharest. Plus it has expanded its fleet with new Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft
