Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport was classified by Airports Council International - Europe fourth in a ranking of the airports with the highest increase in air traffic in T1 2016, in the category of airports with 5 - 10 million passengers per year.

Airports ranked the first four places in this category Berlin Schoenefeld, Faro-Algarve (Portugal), Larnaca (Cyprus) and Henri Coandă Bucharest, followed by the airport in Porto.

Between January and March, in the category of airports with over 25 million passengers per year, the ranking is: Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, Dublin, Barcelona El Prat, Copenhagen and Amsterdam Schiphol. In the category 10 - 25 millions of passengers / year, the first places were airports Cologne-Bonn, Alicante, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Athens, and in the category under 5 million passengers per year, the ranking is: Liege ( Belgium), Ohrid (Macedonia), Oostende-Bruges (Belgium), Santorini (Greece) and Oradea city.

The biggest increase in air traffic in T1

Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport recorded, during the first quarter of the year, 2016 air traffic of 2.140.750 passengers and 23.719 aircraft movements (landings and take-offs). Compared to the same period last year, the number of passengers who passed AIHCB in February 2016 increased by 18,4%. The evolution of the number of passengers at Henri Coanda Airport significantly outweighs the general trend of 7,8%, registered at European level.

Henri Coandă Airport also registered an increase in the number of aircraft movements, also surpassing the European trend, which reached 4%. Thus, in the first quarter of 2016, the number of aircraft movements on AIHCB increased by 10,1% compared to the same period last year.
