2016 was an unprecedented year in the history of Iasi International Airport. In 2016, the increase in passenger traffic at Iasi Airport is 133% compared to the previous year, when there was a number of 381.000 passengers.

The most spectacular evolution from 2016 was recorded in August, when the total number of passengers boarded and disembarked in Iasi reached 98.317, which represents an increase of approximately 175% over the same period of the year 2015 (35.801) and over 300%. August 2014 (25.893).
It should be noted that in 2016, the Iasi International Airport exceeded the forecast figure for 2026, and in 2017 it could exceed the estimates for 2029. Estimates for 2017 are optimistic, and authorities estimate 1,2 million passengers.
