Henri Coandă Airport in Otopeni is the most important in Romania in terms of number of routes and flight options. It is located 18 km from Bucharest, so relatively close for the residents of the capital. But for those coming from the province, transportation to the airport can be problematic. If you don't know the capital, you may have difficulties changing means of transport or finding the right one. Next, we present the options you have if you are not from Bucharest and want to get to Otopeni airport.

Book a seat with an agency that provides transportation to the airport

The easiest way to get to Otopeni is to call an agency that deals with car rentals for airport transfer and passenger transport. Book a seat online and enjoy good conditions and punctual transport. Some coaches also have 4G internet. You have enough space to store your luggage and you always arrive at your destination in good time. You don't have to worry about changing the means of transport or driving, so you can relax.

Rent a car

If you like to drive or travel alone and leave at whatever time you want, you can rent a car. Some companies that offer such services give you the opportunity to leave your car in the airport parking lot. They pick it up and can even bring it back to you the day you return so you have something to drive home with. You can rent cars of different sizes, depending on the number of passengers and luggage.

Go by train

If you take the train from the town where you are staying to the North Station, you can also travel by train to the airport. Keep in mind, however, that there are often delays on domestic lines, especially long-distance ones. In addition, sometimes the journey is unpleasant because of the conditions in the trains.

In 2020, the railway line connecting the North Station to the Henri Coandă airport was opened. Three companies operate on this line, and trains run very frequently, every day. The journey takes 20 minutes. The advantage of traveling by train is that you do not depend on traffic and thus have departures and arrivals at fixed times. You can purchase a ticket or, with some companies, pay directly on the train with your card. There is also the possibility of purchasing an integrated monthly subscription, with which you can use buses, trams, trolleybuses and the train to the airport.

Car races to Bucharest

Many transport companies in the country have routes to Bucharest. In fact, from each county you can travel to the capital by minibus or coach. But you have to check their schedule to make sure you arrive on time. It is also good to check the quality of services, because some companies cancel rides. Unlike the routes that drop you off at the airport, these drop you off at different bus stations.

If you arrived in Bucharest by minibus or someone transported you, one of the options available for the trip to the airport is the bus. Unfortunately, there is only one line that connects the capital to the airport: 783. The bus runs daily and has a fixed schedule, but traffic can cause delays.

You have to take this into account and leave a little earlier, especially at peak times. On average, a 783 bus journey to the airport takes 45 minutes from one end of the route to the other. The starting point is Piața Unirii 2 and the final point is the Arrivals terminal. There are 16 stops along the way, including one at the Departures terminal.

There are several ways to get to Otopeni airport when you are not from Bucharest. Choose the most convenient for you.
