In the first nine months of the year 2015, there was an increase in the number of passengers by 32%, compared to the same period of the previous year. Thus, between January and September 2014, 539.287 passengers traveled from / to Timisoara Airport. During the same period of 2015 711.769 passengers were registered and thus the premises are created to reach the target of 1 million passengers by the end of the year.
And the number of flights has been increasing. If during the first 9 months of 2014, 7679 aircraft movements (landings and take-offs) were recorded, during the same period this year, their number increased by 16%, more precisely, 8916 of landings and take-offs.
It is extremely important that during this period there was an increase of the degree of "loading" of the aircraft with 13%. If during the first 9 months of 2014, an aircraft takes off or lands on average, with 70 of passengers, then in 2015, the degree of loading is close to 80 of passengers / aircraft.
Freight traffic increased by 25%: from 1416 tons in January-September 2014, to 1765 tons in the first nine months of this year.
2015 was a good year for charter flights to / from Timişoara. Over 34.000 passengers were registered at the Timisoara International Airport, during the period May-September 2015, for holiday charter flights. Compared to the same period of year 2014, the increase is with 54%. 272 charter flights were operated. Antalya remains Banat's favorite destination, with 16 000 of tourists transported to and from Timisoara.
