The COVID-19 pandemic has paralyzed global tourism and commercial aviation. Governments have taken drastic measures to stop the spread of the virus. The borders were closed, millions of flights were canceled, tens of millions of tourists and passengers were affected.

And it all happened in a very short time. We are in the 4th month since the first report of the virus in China and in the second month since the coronavirus pandemic was declared.

Blue Air answers passengers' questions

Among the companies affected are those in Romania, including Blue Air. And including all Blue Air passengers. Many are outraged even today because they do not know what happens to flights, money, how to apply for refunds. To clarify the situation, Blue Air answered a few key questions.

1. Why did Blue Air suspend flights?

As a result of the decree issued by the President of Romania, which installs the state of emergency, Blue Air suspended regular flights between March 21 and May 16, 2020.

2 My flight was canceled, what solutions do I have?

For all canceled flights, the affected passengers are informed, by sms and email, about the possibilities they have, respectively:

<br>• Crediting the full amount paid for the canceled flight, in the form of a voucher. For flights canceled due to the spread of COVID-19, BlueAir came to meet customers, automatically issuing a voucher representing the value of the canceled ticket. This voucher can be used to purchase other tickets or services on the Blue Air website and is valid for 12 months from its issuance.

<br>• Changing the travel date without additional costs, within the available places

<br>• The option to request a refund of the amount paid for the canceled flight. Given the situation generated by COVID-19, please keep in mind that this option is affected by processing delays.

Passengers can express their options on the most appropriate option by contacting the Call Center department (data available in the section contact on the Blue Air website), except for the voucher, where it has already been issued and sent to the email address used at the time of booking.

3. What flights are canceled?

As a result of the decree issued by the President of Romania, which installs the state of emergency, Blue Air suspended regular flights between March 21 and May 16, 2020.

3. I was not informed of the flight cancellation. What should I do?

Blue Air sends written notifications to customers regarding flight cancellation / modification. Notifications are sent using the data recorded in the system (email and phone number) at the time of purchase of the travel ticket. Please make sure that the data you provide when purchasing tickets is correct and complete.

If you are not the person who made the reservation, please contact the person who made the reservation for you to receive all the necessary details.

If the reservation was created through a travel agency, please contact them directly for more information.

4. What compensation can I receive given that my flight has been canceled?

Blue Air complies with national and international laws and regulations. Blue Air will not be obliged to pay compensation if the cancellation is caused by extraordinary circumstances, which could not have been avoided, even if all reasonable measures had been taken.

5. I no longer want to travel even if my flight is not canceled. What solutions do I have?

Passengers can change their travel date up to 4 hours before take-off, respecting the terms and conditions of the purchased package.

For passengers who have a departure / return ticket until May 31, 2020 inclusive and for various reasons do not want to travel, Blue Air offers passengers one of two options:

• Changing the travel date without additional costs, within the available seats;

• Crediting the full amount paid for the canceled flight, in the form of a voucher. This voucher can be used to purchase other tickets or services on the Blue Air website and is valid for 12 months from its issuance.

6. I can't contact the customer service department, how can I contact a Blue Air representative?

In the context of the current situation, we encounter a high volume of requests, the processing time being automatically higher than normal, both by phone and in writing.

7. Which countries have introduced a travel ban? Do I need a health certificate?

      Our flight was canceled and then we received an email with another flight
      I then sent an email to cancel the flight, to which I received another confirmation email from Blueair.
      We did not receive any answer if they accepted or not our request and we checked in Blue wallet and we have the money on the flight there.
      In this case, do we have to receive an email with the flight cancellation?

If I am vaccinated and at least 14 days have elapsed since the booster, is it sufficient to present myself on board with the certificate issued at the vaccination center, which certifies the performance of the 2 doses of vaccine, the dates of their performance and the type of vaccine used? I know that this certificate mentions this information in both Romanian and English. Do you need anything else? Translated, legalized, etc.? Thank you.

            eSky is not a Blue Air agency in the first place, but an online travel agency that also sells Blue Air tickets. And the money is recovered from the agency where you bought the ticket. It now depends on the reasons why you failed to get on the plane. Get in touch locally!

          Romania is on the yellow list of Great Britain, which means that you have to perform a PCR test before leaving for Great Britain to present at boarding. Upon arrival in the UK you will have to isolate yourself for a period of 10 days and fill in a location form. Also, in quarantine you will have to perform 2 more tests, one on day 2 and another on day 8. If the two tests come out negative, you will be able to get out of self-isolation.

            Those traveling from the yellow zone, countries such as Italy, Greece, Austria, Germany, Spain, etc., can come with a negative PCR test and then no longer enter quarantine. People who have been completely vaccinated (with both doses for two-dose vaccines) against the new coronavirus are also exempted from the quarantine measure. Please note that 10 days must elapse after the booster dose (second dose).

    The problem is that the use of the voucher is not possible on the official blueair website, the option to pay the ticket with the voucher is no longer valid, I still don't know if there is an error on the website. I'm waiting for an answer from the dances.

    Hi, my name is Emil. I bought a ticket with blueair, round trip Stuttgart-Bacau from opodo.de. Two days ago I asked for confirmation of the flight from opodo and they sent me an e-mail that everything is ok, but when I look for the flight on the flyblueair.com page it says that the flight is canceled. I tried to contact the blueair company via phone and e-mail but it is impossible. I could hardly contact the people from opodo by phone and they tell me to contact them with the blueair company. I mention that the ticket is for 08-08-2020 until 20-08-2020, so it has nothing to do with covid-19. To make me recover at least the money, because I bought for 6 people? Thank you.

    Hi, BLUE AIR credited my wallet after my flights have been canceled. I have asked a refund but every time it's the same reply "your wallet has been credited".
    What can I do please? Blue air stopped the flights to LCA from ATH and it's the only route I am interested in.

I would like to buy 6 Paris Bucharest tickets in July and August 2021 but on their website are displayed only one flight per day and one night flight. Do you know if they will supplement the flights or is this their usual flight schedule?

      We know nothing about their operational schedule, other than the one displayed. That's the schedule, you can buy tickets on those flights. The program is not ok, call other airlines such as TAROM, Air France, Animawings and which still fly on the route Paris - Bucharest.

    I had a ticket on July 21 valencia-buc. , I was denied boarding due to lack of seats (!?!) although I said I had to release my 92-year-old mother, who was paralyzed and alone. My mother died on the 22nd, I arrived on the 23rd. The complaint server is full, I can't send a photocopy of the death certificate, I can't even complain. What kind of company has no respect for such situations?
