Iraqi Airways has acquired the first Airbus A330 in the fleet

Iraqi Airways, the national airline of Iraq, took possession of the first aircraft Airbus A330-200. This means a new beginning for the Iraqi air carrier, but also for Airbus. The aircraft is configured in 2 classes: 24 seats in Business Class and 264 seats in Economy Class. The aircraft is powered by two GE CF6-80 engines.

By introducing this aircraft, Iraqi Airways operator can open new routes to important countries in Europe: Germany, UK, Austria etc. From the orders released, it seems that Iraqi Airways has big plans for development and modernization. Currently operating a fleet of 15 aircraft to 21 of destinations, but has orders for 40 of aircraft plus optional 15. Some of these are for medium and long runs.
