Istanbul New Airport aims to be a great hub at the intersection of 3 major continents Europe, Asia and Africa. It is a megalomaniac project, which was developed under the close supervision of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

And not by chance, the new Istanbul airport was inaugurated on the National Day of Turkey. At the same time, the new airport was named Istanbul because it is a symbol of Turkey.

The plan is for all flights to be moved from Ataturk to Istanbul New Airport during the period 29 December - 31 December 2018. As of January 1 2019, Turkish Airlines will operate all flights from the new airport.
