(Update) Italy extends the period of validity of the travel conditions imposed on Romania

Update September 7: On September 7, the Italian authorities have decided to extend the application of these measures until 7 October 2020.

Update: July 31, 21 p.m.: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Italian authorities announce extension of up to 10 days of measures on conditions for entry into the territory of the Italian Republic for persons coming from Romania.

Thus, the MFA reminds that, according to the official information communicated by the Italian authorities, to persons arriving in the Italian Republic and who in the last 14 days have been in Romania or have transited Romania, the obligation of medical supervision and self-isolation for a period of 14 days. Crew members of means of transport of goods and persons and seafarers are exempted from this measure. 

Update July 24, 2020, 20:00 p.m.: OFFICIAL: Clarifications of the MFA regarding the conditions of entry on the territory of Italy. According to the information presented by the MFA, it is about 14 days of isolation at home.

Initial report 24 July 2020: A few minutes ago, Roberto Speranza - the Italian Minister of Health - signed an order providing for quarantine for all those traveling from Romania and Bulgaria to Italy. But also to those who have been in Romania and Bulgaria in the last 14 days.

This measure is already implemented for all non-EU countries and outside the Schengen area. However, Italy denies access to citizens of 13 countries. Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brazil, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Kuwait, Northern Macedonia, Moldova, Oman, Panama, Peru and the Dominican Republic.

Roberto Speranza also stated: The virus is not defeated and continues to circulate and spread. For this reason we still need caution and attention.
