On April 29, 2021, JetBlue (JBLU) received the first Airbus A321LR aircraft configured with the Airspace cabin created by Airbus, which will be used for the airline's first transatlantic service to London in the summer of 2021. The airline will receive a total of 13 such aircraft.

JetBlue (JBLU) has become the first Airbus partner to benefit from the new Airspace cockpit configuration designed by Airbus to bring extra comfort for long-haul flights. With the Airspace configuration, the A321LR aircraft has a structure of only 138 seats: 114 in economy class and 24 at Mint class offered by JetBlue (JBLU).

Airspace brings cabin enhancements to the A320 family that will enhance the passenger flight experience. The aircraft will have customizable lighting - which will help reduce jet lag, there will be new thinner side panels for extra personal space at the shoulders, it will provide more windows for a better view, the latest lighting technologies with New LEDs and toilets with untouched hygienic features and antimicrobial surfaces.

JetBlue (JBLU) currently has a total of 273 aircraft in its fleet, according to Planespotter.net. Most of the airline's fleet consists of Airbus A320 family aircraft with 120 x Airbus A320-200, as well as the Airbus A321 family with 63 x Airbus A321-200 and 17 x Airbus A321neo.

The A321LR also offers significant environmental benefits with a close reduction 50% of the noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft and maybe reduces fuel consumption by 30% and nitrogen oxide emissions by 50%.

With an increased range of up to 4.000 nm (7.400 km), the A321LR is the perfect aircraft for long-haul flights, offering real transatlantic capacity and premium comfort, benefiting from a wide body in a single-aisle cabin.
