Carlisle-born Kate McWilliams discovered her passion for airplanes at 4 when she went to the first airshow of her life. He started flying at the age of 13. At 19 he joined the cadet training program at CTC Aviation, Southampton.

In 2011, he joined easyJet as a first officer. The command course started on 25 April 2016, and in September passed the final exam and became the youngest pilot-controlled commercial aircraft in an airline.

Given that only 5% of pilots are female globally, an example such as Kate McWilliams can influence more and more women to pursue a pilot career.

Examples of pilot women we have in Romania: Andreea Litescu (Airbus commander Airbus A320 and operational base commander in Bucharest); Simona Maierean, the first female pilot of a supersonic plane from Romania; Diana Ventoneac, commander ATR TAROM; Aura Muşat, first officer A318 TAROM etc.
