Kenya Airways will suspend all flights to the UK from April 9. The decision came after Britain added Kenya to the "red list" of countries at high epidemiological risk, banning most travelers. Also, those arriving from Kenya had to be in strict quarantine for a period of 10 days. The airline intends to perform additional services for the next few days.

However, the decision to ban flights came after the Kenyan government intervened. Kenya has retaliated against the UK travel ban, cutting all flights and adding new restrictions on travel in the UK.

Reducing flights will have an impact on passengers in the future. Under the UK travel ban, only British and Irish citizens, along with those with residence rights, will be allowed to travel to the UK after 04:00 on 9 April.

The Kenyan government has criticized the UK's decision to add the country to its red list.

Those who meet this criterion will have to stay in a quarantine hotel approved by the government for 10 days and perform two tests that have negative results in order to get out of quarantine. Failure to comply with the quarantine or violations could even lead to imprisonment for passengers. In preparation for the travel ban, Kenya Airways is adding two more services to the UK on April 7 and 8. However, demand is very likely to exceed supply.

The Kenyan government has criticized the United Kingdom for imposing a travel ban and accused it of lack of communication. However, the decision to reduce flights will make travel more inconvenient for Kenyan citizens and for the few who can travel to the UK. Moreover, the reduction in flights will be a huge blow to Kenya Airways, which recently reported a massive loss.

Ticket prices between Kenya and the United Kingdom have risen in anticipation of the ban.

Prices for direct flights to the UK have already risen since the ban was announced. A round trip ticket from Nairobi to London Heathrow cost $ 4.300 and was only available in business class. Ticket prices for connecting flights were slightly cheaper.

Kenya Airways is already struggling with several issues. The carrier recently reported a loss of $ 330 million for 2020, the worst loss in the airline's history. It is also stuck in a dispute with pilots over pay cuts.
