KLM allows the use of portable devices at all stages of the flight
From the 1 April, KLM will allow the use of portable electronic devices in all phases of flight. All smartphones, tablets and other portable gadgets must be set to flight mode.
The category of portable electronic devices includes mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, laptops, e-readers, portable game consoles, cameras etc. Currently, it is forbidden to use them during the take-off and landing phases.
This is in alignment with Air France, which has implemented the new facility to use portable gadgets throughout the flight.
The new policy regarding the use of personal gadgets in the aircraft has been adopted by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as of November 2013, however, each airline will decide the date and manner of its implementation.
