On 9 April KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the oldest airline in the world which still retains its original name, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the continuous operation of the route Bucharest, Henri Coandă - Amsterdam, Schiphol.
The first flight between Amsterdam and Bucharest took place on March 31, 1965 as part of a route that included several European cities: Amsterdam-Vienna-Belgrade-Bucharest. The flight was operated by a Lockheed Electra PH-LLK aircraft called the "Pallas". This operation was suspended on November 1, 1969 due to reasons related to the political and economic climate in Southeast Europe and implicitly in Romania.
Since April 9, 1996, KLM has been flying frequently on the route Bucharest - Amsterdam
KLM returned to Henri Coandă Airport in Bucharest on April 9, 1996 and since then has been continuously present in Romania with a daily service. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines currently operates two daily frequencies, connecting Henri Coanda Bucharest Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and offering convenient connections to many destinations around the world.
