KLM Cityhopper renews its fleet and has opted for 17 Embraer aircraft (2 x Embraer E190 and 15 x Embraer E175 +). These will replace the current Fokker 70, 19 aircraft in number. In December 2015, the 2 Embraer E190 aircraft will arrive in the Dutch operator's fleet, and the 15 Embraer E175 + aircraft will be delivered between 2016 and 2018.

As new aircraft enter the KLM Cityhopper fleet, Fokker 70 aircraft will be withdrawn from commercial service. In 2018, the KLM Cityhopper fleet will consist of 30 of Embraer E190 aircraft and 15 Embraer E175 + aircraft. The uniformization of the fleet will lead to lower operating costs for the Dutch company. Pilots and cabin crews will be able to operate on both types of aircraft, and maintenance costs will be reduced.

At the same time, the transport capacity will increase. The new Embraer E175 + aircraft can carry up to 88 passengers, and Embraer E190 aircraft up to 100 passengers, while Fokker 70 aircraft have a capacity of only 80 seats.
