LaudaMotion opposes state aid for Austrian Airlines

Laudamotion, the Austrian subsidiary of RYANAIR Group, has asked the Austrian government not to approve state aid for Austrian Airlines. He reasoned, saying that Austrian citizens should not support a German airline.

Austrian Airlines is part of Lufthansa Groups and is facing major financial problems because of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is true that the Lufthansa Group has started talks with the German government to support Lufthansa, but there are also discussions with the governments of Switzerland (SWISS), Belgium (Brussels Airlines), Austria (Austrian Airlines).

"We do not believe that Lufthansa should receive state aid from Austrian taxpayers. How we don't think RYANAIR should receive state aid from Austrian taxpayers, ”said Andreas Gruber, CEO of Laudamotion.

If Austrian Airlines receives state aid, then LaudaMotion will also ask for the same on behalf of its 550 employees in Austria. Austrian Airlines and LaudaMotion have suspended all commercial operations. However, both companies operate repatriation flights to Austria.
