As of 27 November 2020, the Bulgarian authorities have implemented new restrictive measures to stop the spread of the new coronavirus. In other words, a partial lockdown has taken place in Bulgaria, with trade being restricted. The new measures are valid for 21 days.
According to the approved decision, non-essential commercial activities will be stopped with some exceptions. At the same time, the organization of excursions and group visits to tourist objectives is suspended.
Complete list of measures taken internally in Bulgaria:
- All persons who are in closed public spaces (e.g. means of public transport, medical and health facilities, pharmacies, optical shops, national centers for public health, administrative institutions and other places, where citizens, railway stations and bus stations, airports, metro stations, shopping malls, churches, monasteries, places of worship, museums and others are served or have access) are required to wear a face mask, single or multiple use, or other means of covering the nose and mouth (eg scarf, shawl, visor and others), used according to the recommendations;
- All persons who are in crowded open public spaces and where it is impossible to keep a physical distance of 1,5 meters, are required to wear a face mask, single or multiple use, or other means of covering the nose and mouth (eg scarf, shawl, visor and others), used according to the recommendations;

- In relation to these provisions, “public”Are those places that are open / accessible to citizens and / or that are intended for public use;
- The measure of physical distance is applied between persons who are in open public places (parks, streets, bus stations), unless these persons are part of the same family / household;
- The food stores organize their activity so that between 8.30-10.30 they allow only the access of people aged at least 65 years. During this time, access to persons under the age of 65 is not allowed;
- It is not allowed to organize private gatherings and celebrations (weddings, baptisms, funeral ceremonies, etc.) with the presence of over 15 people;
- Gambling halls, casinos, fitness and sports halls, public catering and leisure units will be closed;
- Restaurants will be allowed to make home deliveries;
- Stores in mall-type shopping complexes will be closed, except for food, pharmacies, optics, pets, banks and those belonging to insurance, courier and telecommunications companies;
- Visits to nightclubs, variety bars and clubs are suspended;
- The organization of events such as congresses, conferences, seminars, exhibitions, organization of cultural and entertainment events (cinemas, museums, galleries, stage events, concerts, dance, creative courses and musical arts, etc.) is suspended.
- An exception is allowed for theaters, which can continue their activity with a occupancy rate of up to 30% and ensure a minimum physical distance of 1,5 meters between spectators.
The new measures adopted do not influence Romanians' access to Bulgaria.
There is no ban on entering the territory of Bulgaria for Romanian citizens arriving from Romania. There is no obligation to carry out a 14-day quarantine and no obligation to present the result of a negative molecular test (PCR type) for Romanian citizens arriving from Romania.
