Both birthdays are clear evidence that the Lufthansa group has continued its development in the region for the past 5 decades. Lufthansa is just waiting to celebrate both important aviation moments for the company.

50 years of activity in Romania for Lufthansa

50 years ago, on August 25, 1967, the first Lufthansa aircraft, a Boeing 727 named "Würzburg", landed on Romanian soil. The first flight to Romania was on the route Frankfurt - Bucharest, via Munich.

Moreover, the same plane also had the passenger with the number 2.000.000 that flew from Frankfurt airport from the first moment the company started its activity, making the flight even more special.

Since then, the Lufthansa group has significantly increased its presence on the Romanian market, offering 149 weekly flights today.

This year, also on 25 August, flight number LH1418, operated by Airbus A320, will arrive at the Henri Coandă airport in Bucharest to mark the 50 anniversary of Lufthansa in Romania.

Antonio Tassone, CEO of Lufthansa Group Romania, says: "We are proud to celebrate 5 the decades since Lufthansa was active in Romania. This anniversary flight is an important moment because it symbolizes the loyalty and support we received from our partners and passengers in Romania. We are very pleased that, at present, the Lufthansa Group operates up to 149 weekly flights from Romania to the hubs of the Lufthansa Group.

Moreover, the company continues to enjoy success in the region and we look forward to the company's future development moments in Romania, such as launching the flights from Timisoara and Cluj to Frankfurt, starting with 29 October 2017. "

10 years of flights on the route Sibiu - Munich

Another special anniversary is the one on 3 September 2017: Lufthansa celebrates 10 years since the route was opened Sibiu - Munich. The company currently offers 19 weekly flights from Sibiu to Munich.

Lufthansa's large network offers passengers the chance to fly, via group hubs, to 308 destinations in 103 countries around the world. Through these connections, passengers can easily reach cities such as Stuttgart, Berlin, Paris, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Shanghai or Tokyo.

Moreover, the Lufthansa group declared the year 2017 to be the year of digitization of the company, promising to invest 500 millions of euros for digitization by the end of 2020.

The result of this commitment results in the launch of several projects to improve services and individual communication with customers. These include FlyNet, a program that allows passengers access to the Internet during the flight and is currently only available on A320 aircraft.
