Lufthansa Group eliminates free catering from short and medium flights
In these turbulent times, airlines are forced to reduce operations, suspend routes and cancel a large number of flights. At the same time, they are forced to drastically reduce spending.
Under these conditions, Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines) eliminates free catering from short and medium flights. The action is attributed to the waste of food and the fact that not all passengers appreciated / consumed the snacks received on board the aircraft.
Thus, starting in the spring of 2021, passengers will be able to purchase a wide range of food and beverages on board Lufthansa Group aircraft. In the new menu you will find quality products, at high standards. Well, so far they weren't quality products?
At the same time, with the help of the new concept, Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines are investing in sustainability, selecting environmentally friendly products and packaging.
The range of food and drinks will be available in the menus of airlines in various forms. The menus will have regional references, and the emphasis will be on fresh products and snacks.
The new offer will be introduced in stages starting with the spring of 2021. Austrian Airlines will be the first company to introduce the new menu, followed by SWISS and Lufthansa. The new menus will be revealed by each airline in the coming months.
