In the context of the evolution of the global COVID-19 pandemic, as well as of the measures adopted by the Romanian authorities to limit the spread of SARS-Cov-2 virus infection, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs addresses to the Romanian citizens the request to evaluate the opportunity to make certain trips abroad that are not essential.

The MFA recalls that, among the measures adopted by the Romanian authorities, there is also the measure of establishment and regular updating of the list of countries / areas with high epidemiological risk, for which the measure of self-isolation is required for all persons arriving in Romania from the respective countries / areas.

The MFA recommends caution when traveling that is not essential

Considering the fact that the mentioned list is updated weekly by the National Institute of Public Health in Romania, MFA emphasizes that it is possible for certain states / areas to be included by the Romanian authorities in the list of countries / areas with high epidemiological risk. It must also be borne in mind that flights to / from the respective states / areas may be canceled.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends to Romanian citizens to analyze the opportunity of any trip abroad in the current context and to make only the trips that are considered essential.

In this context, MFA recommends Romanian citizens to consult the website of the National Institute of Public Health in Romania for up-to-date information on the list of countries at epidemiological risk (https://www.cnscbt.ro/index.php/liste-zone-afectate-covid-19), as well as the MFA website, in particular the headings ACOVID-19 travel licenses for Europe: http://www.mae.ro/node/51880 and COVID-19 travel alerts for other regions: http://www.mae.ro/node/51982, for information on measures taken by other states in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

MFA uses this opportunity to recommend Romanian citizens abroad to keep in touch with airlines and tour operators, depending on the particular situations in which they find themselves, in order to identify alternatives to return to Romania, if the situation requires it.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through Romanian diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad, is ready to provide consular assistance to Romanian citizens, according to the legal competences and with strict observance of the measures adopted both by the Romanian authorities and by the authorities of the state of residence in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Travel with caution and be informed!

In other words, the MFA recommends citizens to be careful when traveling for tourism. It is good that the decisions are taken in full knowledge of the facts and after prior documentation.

These recommendations come in the context in which several Romanians, arriving from Spain and Romania, were forced to stay in isolation for 14 days. Or the case of those who traveled to Malta and since August 18 no longer have direct flights to return to Romania where they will stay 14 days in isolation. Before making the decision to travel abroad, analyze the situation of the pandemic very well because everything is dynamic. Every day there are new restrictions imposed by European countries and globally. The virus persists and still kills!

Travel with caution and be informed!
