Dr Mausoom noted that more and more countries were allowing vaccinated people to enter those countries without an additional PCR test, which was the right time for the Maldives to make such decisions.

"After vaccination with the corresponding doses and after the waiting period, if any, a vaccination certificate is given. When that certificate / card is received, travel will be allowed without further testing. It is time for the Maldives to do this and benefit all vaccinated tourists. ”

Dr Mausoom said that since the Maldives were among the first to reopen its borders and there were benefits for the economy and the country, there will certainly be many more benefits if they open their borders to vaccinated tourists.

The Minister of Tourism stated that they are in talks with the competent authorities to obtain permits for vaccinated tourists.

The Maldives launched its COVID-19 vaccination program on February 1, 2021 with the Covishield vaccine donated by the Indian government. To date, 137.124 people have received the first dose of vaccine.
