The Maldives has seen a recovery in the tourism sector since the beginning of the year.

The Maldives registered a recovery of the tourism sector, with 147.744 tourist arrivals registered from the beginning of the year until February 17, compared to January 2020 when the destination registered 177.140 visitors.

Currently, most tourists who arrive in Maldives come from Russia and India. France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Romania, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States are also among the top countries.

Maldives has launched the vaccination operation against Covid-19.

The president, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, and the first lady, Fazna Ahmed, were the first to receive the vaccine doses, along with other government officials. As of February 10, 20.161 people have been vaccinated in the Maldives.

The Ministry of Tourism has launched an initiative to vaccinate workers in the tourism sector to create a safe scenario for the industry. Currently, over 140 resorts, over 330 guesthouses and 11 hotels are open.

Right now, there are 27 airlines connecting the Maldives to the rest of the world.

Although there is no mandatory quarantine for arriving passengers, all tourists must complete a form, a health declaration online within 24 hours before leaving the country and present a negative result of a PCR test of Covid-19, performed no more than 96 hours before departure .
