Hungarian state-owned airline, Malev, announced on Friday that, starting at 6 AM, it has stopped working. No aircraft has risen from the ground after 66 years of activity.

To Romania, Malev operates flights on the Bucharest-Budapest route. Four planes were supposed to arrive this morning in Bucharest, Tel Aviv, Dammam and Damascus, but this did not happen again.

Malev

Malev generated 40% of the annual turnover of the Budapest International Airport and had a fleet of 22 of passenger aircraft. The Hungarian government has failed to privatize the company with 2.600 employees and has abandoned 2010 from this strategy.

Here's why 2012 is not a good year for some airlines. Malev stopped working today, just days after Spanair canceled all flights.
