Mihail Kogalniceanu Constanta International Airport will be expanded with a new terminal, control tower and parking, he announces agendaconstructiilor.ro. The investment benefits from financing from European funds, through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program (POIM). The foreseen works include the expansion of the existing terminal with a new building body, including the supply, installation and commissioning of the necessary equipment (technological machinery and equipment) and aims to accommodate all passengers under the conditions of the simultaneous operation of 400 passengers/flow of departures/ rush hour arrivals. The two terminals are two structurally independent buildings.

According to the information from the feasibility study, prepared by the association Popaescu & Co SRL and NKY Mimarlik Muhendislik Insaat ve Ticaret, the developed area of the new terminal and the control tower will be almost 16.000 square meters. The pre-feasibility study was carried out in 2018 by Consitrans, in collaboration with Popaescu& Co.

There is no point in going into details about the execution times because, in our opinion, these works will not be done anytime soon. We hope we are wrong, but in the 11 years of airlinestravel.ro we have learned that Romania will have a city and an airport once every four years, when there are elections. Then the projects are put in the drawers and taken out at the next election. In addition to that, Constanta airport has potential for growth and development even based on the current infrastructure, but for several years things have not evolved very well and the number of passengers is always constant. But, going over the plans shown above, do you like the rendered sketches?
