On Thursday night, the Airbus A321-231 Turkish Airlines aircraft, named TC-IRJ, was struck by lightning. Normally it should not have been damaged, each aircraft being equipped with lightning removal systems, but it seems that one of the engines caught fire. The plane operated domestic flight TK-2348, on the route Istanbul - Izmir.

The incident did not register any casualties, and the plane was brought to the ground without problems at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (LTBJ). The 114 passengers were relieved when everything was well over. The airport operated normally without delays or other damage.
