The engine of an Airbus A321 Turkish Airlines in flames after the aircraft was struck by lightning (video)
On Thursday night, the TC-IRJ, named Airbus A321-231 Turkish Airlines, was struck by lightning. Normally one should not have suffered damage, each aircraft being equipped with lightning elimination systems, but it seems that one of the engines caught fire. The plane operated the domestic flight TK-2348, on the route Istanbul - Izmir.
The incident did not register any casualties, and the plane was brought to the ground without problems at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (LTBJ). The 114 passengers were relieved when everything was well over. The airport operated normally without delays or other damage.
