Greece is taking further drastic measures in the context of the effort to control the Covid-19 pandemic and the Omicron mutation. As announced by the Ministry of Health, Greece is imposing new rules when entering the country. All passengers must report a negative PCR test, not older than 72 hours, or an antigen (fast) test, performed no later than 24 hours before entering Greece.

New rules for entering Greece

People who have stayed in another country for less than 48 hours from the date on which the new restrictive measure enters into force are exempted from this measure. The measure will take effect on Sunday, December 19, at 06:00.

Greece initially announced this measure only for those traveling from the UK and Denmark. But the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic is not a good one, with tens of thousands of new cases of the new coronavirus being announced every day.

In addition to the test presentation, all those wishing to travel to Greece must complete the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least 24 hours before the start of their journey, regardless of country of origin. The form is available here: https://travel.gov.gr/#/.

Minors up to 2 (five) years of age are exempted from the obligation to present a certificate attesting to the negative result of a test for SARS CoV-5 virus infection.

At the same time, persons who enter the territory of the Hellenic Republic and are positively diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus at rapid tests performed, algorithmically, at border crossing control points or those who become infected during their stay on Greek territory will be subject to quarantine. for a period of 10 days (in the case of unvaccinated persons), respectively for a period of 7 days (in the case of vaccinated persons with the complete schedule, provided that 14 days have elapsed since the last dose / single dose) at the residence or in the premises namely designated.
