New travel conditions in Egypt: with COVID-19 test.

On 21 January 2021, the Egyptian Parliament approved the Presidential Decree extending the state of emergency for a period of three months, starting on 24 January 2021, amid the security situation and the measures taken to combat the COVID pandemic. 19 of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ROMANIAN CITIZENS TRAVELING FROM ROMANIA:

  • From September 2020, all air passengers entering the Arab Republic of Egypt, through any airport, must present a PCR-type molecular test with a negative result for SARS-CoV-2 infection, performed a maximum of 72 hours before the trip.
  • Passengers in transit (who are not staying at the hotel and will be staying at Cairo Airport until the next flight) do not need a PCR test unless the final destination requires it.
  • Passengers in transit (who will be staying at the hotel / NOT at the airport until the next flight) must have a negative PCR test even if the final destination does not require this test. He is needed to be able to stay at the hotel.
  • Health form completed by each passenger. It will be offered by travel agencies or airlines flying to Egypt.

Children under 6 are exempt from the PCR test

The test must be of the RT-PCR type, performed by a specialized laboratory, authenticated by a stamp, without corrections and / or modifications being applied to the document. The mandatory PCR test submitted to the Egyptian authorities must include the date and time of collection of the biological sample and be translated into English or Arabic, mentioning negatively.

The only people exempted from the measure of presenting a PCR test upon entering the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt are children under 6 years of age. There are no other categories of people exempted.

Upon arrival at the airports of Marsa Matrouh, Hurghada (Red Sea Governorate), Sharm El Sheikh (South Sinai Governorate), Luxor and Aswan, tourists are exempt from obtaining a visa to enter Egyptian territory (until April 30, 2021). Romanian citizens arriving directly at Cairo airport need an entry visa, which is obtained from the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Bucharest or directly from the border authorities at the airport.

In the designated hotels (only with the occupation of 50% of the capacity) special protection measures will be taken, and in case of detecting a case of COVID-19, the person will be quarantined in specially arranged rooms in the hotel, and in case of worsening symptoms be hospitalized (a situation that will generate special treatment conditions and return to the country at the expense of the tourist).

    I booked a holiday in Egypt Hurghada, for 7 nights, starting with October 18, 2020. Do you think I will be able to leave the resort to visit the sights, the pyramids, etc.?
