On 18 August 2020, Malta has introduced Bulgaria, Romania and 3 regions from Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Girona) on the list with high epidemiological risk. Thus, from 21 August, passengers arriving from these countries will be required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test, performed within the last 72 hours, before boarding flights to Malta.
Passengers who do not present this certificate on board, they may be required to take a test at Malta International Airport or be required to self-quarantine in Malta.
As I announced to you on Monday, Romania has included Malta on the list of countries with high epidemiological risk and imposes a 14-day quarantine for all those traveling from Malta to Romania. However, direct flights between Malta and Romania have been suspended.
