A Boeing 737-800 Smart Wings aircraft went off the runway at Katowice-Pyrzowice
On 12 March 2013, a Boeing 737-800 Smart Wings aircraft flew off the runway of Katowice Airport, Poland. The incident was attributed to adverse weather conditions. The aircraft was on a charter flight from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt and had 179 passengers and 6 crew members on board. Only one person was injured. Their landing was through the back door.
The incident did not cause major damage to the airline, but the plane got stuck in the mud and crashed at the airport in the Katowice-Pyrzowice area. It has a single track of 2800 meters.
