In any market there must be at least two competitors. Thus there will be no monopoly and the quality of the product will increase. This is what happens now on the Bucharest-Iasi route.
Since October 25 2015, Blue Air has broken the TAROM monopoly on internal route Bucharest - Iasi. It came with good prices, similar services and bigger aircraft. TAROM has lowered prices to stay in the market, but in all there is a limit.
At the moment, TAROM has an offer for Bucharest - Iasi with rates from 39 EURO / segment or from 79 EURO for round trip flights. Even so, the prices are above Blue Air and the services are similar.
Under these circumstances, when TAROM cannot compete on price, TAROM should seek a new strategy in order to remain competitive on this route. Someone inside the company should be in the passenger seat and think as follows: "Why would I fly with TAROM, on the route Bucharest - Iasi, at a higher price than the competition?". When the answer is found, TAROM will win.
