On April 23, 2020, the largest cargo aircraft - Antonov AN-225 Mriya - landed in Kiev. He had on board medical equipment needed to fight the new coronavirus in Ukraine. The goods weighed 103.88 tons and had a total volume of about 1000 cubic meters. The AN-225 flew from Tianjin, China.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, welcomed the legendary and only aircraft of this size in the world. He thanked the crew and all those who contributed to this transport.

On 11 April 2020, the Antonov AN-225 aircraft has joined humanitarian missions to transport medical equipment from China in different countries of the world. On April 14, Antonov AN-225 landed in Warsaw, and landed in Paris on April 19.

Antonov AN-225 has become the sixth Antonov Airlines aircraft to operate vital cargo missions against COVID-19. From the end of March until today, five AN-124-100 aircraft have transported over 1500 tons of goods from China to various countries in Europe, America and the Middle East.

Some of these flights are operated in accordance with SALIS (Strategic Airlift Interim Solution) in the interest of NATO. On April 24, AN-225 is scheduled to leave Gostomel to carry out missions under the SALIS program.

Antonovo-year-225-Antonovo-year-124th-humanitarian flights

As of April 22, 2020, Antonov Airlines AN-124 Ruslan aircraft began operating humanitarian flights between China and various cities in the United States. Among them: Orlando, Houston, Washington, Los Angeles. The Antonov AN-225 Mriya aircraft is scheduled to join them in May.

All crew members are fully equipped: masks, gloves and overalls. Aircraft disinfection and medical examination of crew members are performed at airports. Contacts between aircraft crews and airport staff have been kept to a minimum.
