oneworld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliances, are teaming up to call on governments to act quickly and adopt passenger testing protocols to reopen borders.

On behalf of the 58 member airlines, representing over 60% of the world's airlines' capacity and carrying 1,87 billion passengers annually before the COVID-19 crisis, the three alliances call for a harmonized approach to testing that will revive aviation and tourism. .

The three global alliances support the Council on Aviation Recovery Task Force (CART) report of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), published on 10 November.

Together, Air Alliances urges governments to implement reporting guidelines for passenger testing protocols so that air travel can be resumed safely.

The 10-14 day restrictions and quarantine imposed by the authorities continue to have a significant negative impact on global travel demand.

Meanwhile, testing of COVID-19 has emerged as an important part of an end-to-end solution to enable the safe restart of international travel.

In this process, the 3 alliances are not alone. IATA and airlines require pre-flight testing of all COVID-19s, an initiative started in September, but without success so far.

Aircraft manufacturers have demonstrated how safe flights are, and the risk of COVID-19 infection on board aircraft is extremely low.
