Iasi International Airport is on an upward trend in terms of the number of passengers processed. According to official data, August it was the busiest time of the year, Iasi Airport registering a total number of 116,390 passengers embarked and disembarked, which represents 90% of the traffic volume from August 2019.
Compared to August 2020, when 61.128 passengers were reported, the recent increase is 90,40%, and compared to July of this year (89.292 passengers), it is observed an advance of 30,34%.
A favorable evolution is also observed in terms of the number of aircraft movements - in August of this year were 1016 takeoffs and landings at Iasi Airport, with 51,19% more compared to the same month of the previous year and with 15,54 percent more compared to July of this year. During January-August 2021, Iasi Airport was transited by 363,566 people.
The recent evolution of air traffic is due to the relaxation measures adopted by the states, but also as a result of the vaccination and testing process of the population, with the (re) opening of an increasing number of air routes. Even if the return to the traffic level in 2019 is expected only for 2024, in recent months there have been increases in traffic values at all airports in Romania and, implicitly, at Iasi International Airport.
