On 8 January 2021, the Cypriot authorities announced new restrictive measures for the population. Starting with January 10, 2021, at 05.00, and until January 31, 2021, at 23:59, a series of locally restrictive measures will enter into force in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The movement of persons will be restricted from 21:00 to 05:00 with the following exceptions:
- Travel to / from work, as well as for work reasons by submitting form A completed and signed by the employer;
- Travel to / from the medical center, hospital, pharmacy or veterinarian for emergency medical reasons, as well as travel for emergency care of people who cannot take care of themselves or who are in isolation.
Public or social gatherings and events are prohibited (regardless of private or public space, internal or external).
Meetings in public open spaces, such as markets, promenades or leisure areas, are prohibited, except for physical sports purposes in parks and beaches, provided that they do not exceed two people.
Non-essential stores and shopping malls are closing
Travel authorization will be granted by SMS within two text messages per day per person. The reasons for the travel for which permits will be granted are to be announced by the authorities.
Telework is mandatory in the public sector and in local government, except for essential services, which are included in the decree issued by the authorities. Telework is also encouraged among private companies with the commitment that the simultaneous physical presence at the headquarters does not exceed 15% of the staff / maximum 20 people.
Religious ceremonies may take place without the presence of believers. They can go to church only for individual prayer. Religious ceremonies such as weddings / baptisms / funerals can be organized with a maximum of 10 people.
Hairdressers and hairdressers, beauty salons and SPA centers, cinemas, dining halls, performance halls, shopping malls and non-essential shops, children's playgrounds, gyms, dance schools and other businesses will be closed. with the public considered non-essential.
Education at all levels will be conducted online, in accordance with the guidelines sent to schools / universities by the Ministry of Education. Nurseries, kindergartens and pre-school classes remain open.
Matches in the first professional division championships are allowed, without the presence of spectators. All other tournaments, as well as sports activities for people under 18, are suspended. The leagues of categories B and C will be able to train in compliance with the established protocols.
