Qantas, Australia's leading air carrier, announced direct route Perth - London. Starting with March 2018, the flights will be operated by aircraft Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

For the first time in history, Australia will be connected by Europe via a direct route. Currently, destinations in Australia are connected to destinations in Europe through hubs in Asia and the Middle East.

When this route is inaugurated, the flight operated will be 3 longest in the world. The distance from NO THOUSANDS will be crossed in about 17 hours (more or less depending on the air currents), being designated the longest distance operated with a Dreamliner.

Qantas will operate aircraft flights Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner specially configured for very long flights. The aircraft will be configured in 3 classes (Business, Premium Economy and Economy) and will be able to carry up to 236 passengers. Flights to Perth - London will be on sale from April 2017.

Flight Perth - London will be the longest on the Qantas network, followed by the Sydney-Dallas flight (13730 kilometers) operated by Airbus A380 aircraft.

In 2015, Qantas operated a direct flight between Australia and Europe, but it was a one-off charter flight operated between Perth and Istanbul. A Boeing 747-400 aircraft was used.
