On November 25, 2021, a pharaonic ceremony took place in the Egyptian city of Luxor, at the reopening of the Sphinx Boulevard. It is a corridor flanked by about 1 statues, 200 years old, that connected the temples of Karnak and Luxor in the ancient pharaonic capital of Thebes.
Pharaonic chariots and hundreds of artists took part in the majestic party, which reopens what the city describes as "the largest open-air museum in the world." With this renovated tourist enclave, the Egyptian authorities hope to boost the tourism sector.
The government of Egypt aims to turn Luxor into an open-air museum. This 2,7-kilometer walkway, which connects two of the city's largest temples, has undergone various restoration works since it was discovered in 1949.
The historic event was attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, as well as ambassadors from various countries.
It is the second amazing ceremony this year that honors the archaeological heritage of Egypt. In April, the government organized a procession, known as the Golden Parade of the Pharaohs, to commemorate the transfer of some of the famous mummies of at the Egyptian Museum in downtown Cairo at the new museum built south of the Egyptian capital, known as National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
