The first Airbus A320neo for IndiGo (photo)
On 10 March 2016, IndiGo became the second air operator in the world with Airbus A320neo in the fleet, after Lufthansa. The Indian operator with low-cost services came into possession of the first Airbus A320neo (VT-ITC), this being part of an order of 250 units worth 26 billion (optional yet 180 aircraft).
These aircraft are powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines, whose problems have led to delays in deliveries. Qatar Airways refused A320neo's first deliveries, and the launch customer was Lufthansa, which received the first A320neo on 20 January 2016.
IndiGo owns a fleet of 102 Airbus A320ceo aircraft. By the end of March 2017, IndiGo would receive 24 of new generation aircraft.
