After 4 months of quarantine, the borders between New South Wales and Victoria reopened. The borders were closed on July 8, for 137 days.

Flight QF404 took off from Sydney Airport at 06:00 local time and landed at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport at 07:25 local time. The flight was operated by the airline QANTAS and was performed with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, registered VH-XZJ.

Sydney and Melbourne airports were full of enthusiastic passengers, eager to see their families again. Also today, no special permit is required to travel between the two states.

Passengers are required to wear masks on board aircraft.

Passengers are still required to wear masks on board aircraft, and the airline will ensure the existence of disinfectant.

This reopening of the borders came because no case of COVID-19 was registered in the two states - in the last 2 days in New South Wales and in the last 15 days in Victoria.

There were no restrictions in New South Wales. In Victoria, employees were allowed to return to their offices. Wearing a mask is no longer mandatory as long as the distance of 1.5 meters is respected.
