KLM 2018 report: 34.2 million passengers carried

2018 was the record year for many airlines, airports and aircraft manufacturers. Among the lucky ones there is the air carrier KLM.

KLM reported 34.2 million passengers carrying 2018, up 4.5% from 2017. The highest growth was recorded on flights from Europe, North and South America.

KLM also performed well at aircraft loading, reporting an LF of 89.1%. It was up 0.7 percentage points against 2017.

And in the cargo area it was very good, KLM announcing a degree of aircraft loading of 67%, increasing with 1.4% compared to 2017.

Pieter Elbers, President and CEO of KLM, announced that the global KLM network has been expanded to 166 by destinations, and the entire KLM group (including Transavia Netherlands) has carried 43 of millions of passengers.

KLM is one of the oldest airlines in the world, which still fly under the name since its inception. This year, KLM celebrates its centenary.

Also in 2018, KLM has received the latest Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner ordered, named "Tulip". They are about to receive 8 787-10 aircraft, which will replace the current Boeing 747-400 / -400M aircraft.
