Coronavirus: Escape / Repatriation Flights from Wuhan, China

Nowadays, governments in several European countries and other regions are organizing evacuation / repatriation flights for citizens of Wuhan, China.

The United States has rented one Boeing 747-400 Kalitta Air, which operated flights earlier this week to bring citizens home. The aircraft, which normally carries freight, was equipped with seats to transport approximately 200 Americans from Wuhan to Riverside via Anchorage.

Evacuation / repatriation flights

Korean Air used a Boeing 747-400 to transport South Koreans between Wuhan and Seoul. The aircraft has already operated 2 rotations (2 x Seoul - Wuhan and return). ANA used a Boeing 767-300 for shuttle flights between Wuhan and Tokyo.

In Europe, a Boeing 747-400 Wamos Air It was rented to bring European citizens home to the UK and Spain. a Airbus A380 HiFly was leased to operate a special flight between Wuhan and Paris for the repatriation of French citizens.

Un Boeing 747-400 Air India will evacuate over 300 Indian citizens from Wuhan. Royal Jordanian sent one Boeing 787-8 to transport the Jordanians from Wuhan to Amman.

Un Boeing 777-300ER Biman Bangladesh Airlines will operate a special flight from Wuhan to Dhaka to repatriate 361 people from Bangladesh. There are 14 crew members (4 commanders) and 4 doctors.

Other special flights will certainly follow. The governments of the countries of Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States and many others have received repatriation requests. Even a Romanian has requested the repatriation from Wuhan.

From the information available, the crews of these flights are made up of volunteers, flight attendants and pilots. We could say that they are the heroes of the air.

According to the procedures, only passengers who do not have the symptoms of the disease will be taken on board. They will receive surgical masks and will be assisted by medical teams. Once they are released, they will be quarantined for 14 days. Those with the symptoms of the disease can only be repatriated on special medical flights.

All special evacuation / repatriation flights will be operated under the supervision and approval of the Chinese authorities.
