From March, the access of foreign nationals to the territory of the Russian Federation (except for citizens with a right of residence, citizens of the states with which the Russian Federation resumed direct flights, or special cases) is temporarily banned and the isolation measure is implemented. at home for 14 days for all Russian and foreign citizens entering this state long term (more than 72 hours / 3 days).

Restrictions on entry into Russia

Quarantine / self-isolation is no longer required for Russian and foreign citizens entering the territory of the Russian Federation (less than 72 hours / 3 days), but it is mandatory to present a test for SARS-CoV-2 infection, performed with at most 72 hours before entering the territory of the Russian Federation.

From 26 December 2020, persons arriving from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are required to undergo isolation at home / residence for 14 days from the date of arrival in the Russian Federation. The only exceptions are the crews of the aircraft that perform the flights.

Starting with February 8, 2021, the railway transport of passengers with Belarus resumed.

Trains run on the Minsk - Moscow - Minsk route, as well as on the Moscow - Kaliningrad and Kaliningrad - St. Petersburg, with a stop in Minsk. The courses are aimed at citizens of the Eurasian Union.

Passengers are required to submit a PCR-type molecular test with a negative result for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, performed no more than 72 hours before the trip. Upon arrival at the destination, the body temperature is checked, and if it is high, the person is placed in self-isolation, regardless of the test result.

Starting with March 1, 2021 the border between the Russian Federation and Georgia is reopened for the citizens / residents of the two states, regardless of the reason for the trip. Russian citizens / residents are required to submit a negative molecular test for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, performed no more than 72 hours prior to travel.

 From 3 February 2021, foreign nationals, regardless of nationality, moving from the Russian Federation to France, including for transit, cannot enter France if they do not belong to the exempted categories and if they cannot prove the urgent nature of the trip (medical / family / professional emergency). For persons wishing to travel from the Russian Federation to France or to any other destination in transit through France, it is recommended to consult in advance, before purchasing airline tickets, the possibility to make the trip.

The Russian authorities have announced the suspension, until further notice, of the e-visa system which was due to become operational on 01.01.2021. The system, valid for citizens of 52 states, including Romania, will be resumed after lifting the restrictions imposed on 18.03.2020 upon entry into the Russian Federation.

For Romanians, access by air it is allowed only for repatriation (through the Consular Section of the Romanian Embassy in Moscow, as well as the Consulates General in St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don). Trade resumes on air links with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (temporarily suspended), Turkey, Tanzania, Switzerland, Kazakhstan / Nur-Sultan, Kyrgyzstan / Bishkek, Belarus / Minsk, Republic of Korea / Seoul, Japan, Emirates United Arab Emirates, Cuba, Finland, Poland, Austria, Germany, Cyprus, Thailand, the Czech Republic and Sweden.
