Review of information in the case of the tragic accident in Colombia

On 28 November, around 22:00 (03:00 GMT - 29 November), BAe 146 / Avro RJ LAMIA Bolivia (CP2933) crashed near Medellin, Colombia.

The aircraft was quickly located approximately 50 kilometers from the final destination. Authorities managed to intervene in a very short time and found 6 survivors and 71 victims. Initially, 81 was reported by people on board. Later this number was revised to 77 by people. 4 passengers have not boarded the LMI2933 flight.

The investigation is ongoing, and the 2 black boxes of the aircraft have been found. Authorities hope to quickly find out the causes of the accident. According to the statements received from the aeronautical institutions, the pilots reported electrical failures. Seeing the gravity of the situation, the pilots would have made the decision to empty the fuel tanks and attempted a forced landing.

But nothing is clear at the moment. It is premature for a verdict. We will follow the evolution of the investigation and will return with information according to official sources.

Unfortunately, the plane was totally destroyed by the impact with the ground. There was no fire on the aircraft.

The aircraft operated charter flight LMI2933, between Santa Cruz-Viru Viru International Airport (Bolivia) and Rionegro / Medellín-José María Córdova Airport (Colombia). As mentioned above, there were 77 people on board: 9 crew members and 68 passengers - the players of the FC Chapecoense football team from Brazil, the technical staff and journalists.
