Year 2016 brings more and more flights to destinations in Cuba, including Europe. Starting with 29 November 2016, Alitalia will start operating flights on route Rome - Havana, Cuba. There will be 2 weekly flights, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The flights will be operated by aircraft of the type Boeing 777-200ER, Admiral of the Alitalia fleet.

Havana will be the 4 long-haul destination inaugurated this year by Alitalia, after Santiago, Mexico City and Beijing. Cuba has always been an attractive country for tourists and has shown interest in charter flights and cruise ships.

The prohibitions on Cuba have been lifted, and economic relations have begun to develop between Cuba and the US or between Cuba and different countries in Europe. With the opening of regular routes, business traffic will also increase.
