Royal Air Maroc will join OneWorld and have full rights

After many years, OneWorld opens the gates for a new airline. Royal Air Maroc has begun the process of joining the OneWorld alliance.

Today, December 5 2018, Royal Air Maroc has begun the process of joining OneWorld. According to the plan, the integration of the Moroccan airline into the OneWorld alliance will take place in 2020. Royal Air Maroc will be the first full-fledged African company in OneWorld.

The accession decision was announced by the executive directors of the 13 OneWorld member companies, which met in New York for the end-of-year board meeting. The news comes about 2 months before the alliance's 20 anniversary.

Royal Air Maroc joins OneWorld

Full membership will be in the middle of the year 2020, when Royal Air Maroc will begin to offer complete services and benefits to all oneworld customers. Royal Air Maroc will have to align its alliance loyalty program, which includes over 1 million customers.

With the accession of Royal Air Morocco, the OneWorld map will be richer with 34 of destinations from 21 of countries. Thus, a total of 1069 of airports in 178 of countries and territories will be reached.

In 2017, Royal Air Maroc transported 7,3 millions of passengers with a fleet of 55 aircraft. The Casablanca base is connected with 94 destinations from 49 from countries in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and North and South America. Including OneWorld hubs in Doha, London Heathrow, Madrid, Moscow Domodedovo, New York JFK and Sao Paulo.
