Ryanair opens its 73 base in Berlin

In a press release issued on 5 March 2015, Ryanair has announced it will open 73 network base and Germany's 6 in Berlin-Schönefeld. This will happen from October 27 2015, when the Irish low-cost operator will move 5 Boeing 737-800 aircraft to Berlin airport and launch 16 new routes. It will support the realization of over 2600 jobs. The investment to open this base amounts to 500 million EURO.

With the opening of this base, Ryanair will operate 22 flights to and from Berlin, starting with the winter season 2015 / 2016, with 14 more than the winter season 2014 / 2015. That would mean 191 weekly flights, and the target would be 2.6 million passengers a year. The 16 new routes are: Alicante (3 weekly flights), Athena (daily), Barcelona (daily), Bari (3 weekly flights), Bologna (daily), Bratislava (daily), Brussels, Glasgow (4 weekly flights), Madrid (2 per day), Malaga (2 per week), Palermo (2 per week), Palma de Mallorca (3 weekly flights), Riga (daily), Rome - Ciampino (2 per day), Valencia (3 per week) and Venice (3 weekly flights). For Ryanair, Germany is a significantly growing market and investments will continue.

Also from the 2015 / 2016 winter season, we will see a Ryanair base also in Bucharest? Remains to be seen!
