RYANAIR has 11 aircraft registered in Malta, transferred to Malta Air

In June 2019, Ryanair Holdings has announced the takeover of Malta Air, a start up airline based in Malta.

This investment in Malta Air will allow Ryanair to further grow its already significant presence in Malta (3 million customers a year) and to access non-EU markets, especially in North Africa, Malta.

At the same time, RYANAIR will transfer under the Maltese AOC all operations from bases in France, Germany and Italy. Including airplanes will be registered in Malta.

To date, 11 Boeng 737-800 RYANAIR aircraft have received new Maltese registrations, but are still operated by RYANAIR. According to Flightradar24, the planes are distributed as follows: Bordeaux (2), Marseille (2), Cologne / Bonn (5) and Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden (2).

Malta Air will start operations in Malta in the winter season 2019-2020. It will take over the 6 RYANAIR aircraft based at Malta International Airport and continue to operate the RYANAIR routes.
