RYANAIR closes its Cork, Shannon and Toulouse bases. Reduces operational capacity from 60% to 40% compared to the 2019 winter season.

Ryanair, the largest airline in Europe, today (Thursday, October 15) launched the revised winter program. Due to travel and flight restrictions imposed by EU governments, air travel to / from Central Europe, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Belgium and Portugal has been severely restricted. This made bookings fall slightly in October and slightly more in November and December.

Given all these circumstances, Ryanair reduced its winter schedule (November 2020 - March 2021) to 40% from the previous year. RYANAIR's goal is to fly aircraft at a minimum load of 70% on average.

Ryanair hopes to maintain up to 65% of its network of routes in the winter season, but with low frequencies. In addition to closing bases in Cork, Shannon and Toulouse, Ryanair has announced a reduction in bases in Belgium, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Austria, which will have fewer aircraft.

As a result of these operational adjustments, Ryanair expects year-round traffic to fall to around 38 million passengers carried. This estimate could be further revised downwards if EU governments continue to impose travel restrictions and block flights.
