On April 2, 2020, SAS operated the longest nonstop flight in its history. He flew an Airbus A350 on the route Copenhagen - Lima to repatriate 290 Scandinavians, who had been stranded in Peru for 3 weeks.

The aircraft used was the Airbus A350-900, registered SE-RSB and christened Hagbard Viking. It was delivered in February 2020. The historic Copenhagen - Lima flight was a good opportunity to make its debut in the SAS fleet.

The SAS SK7030 flight departed from Copenhagen Airport at 00:53 UTC and flew over the UK and Ireland and then over the North Atlantic Ocean. The aircraft flew to Central America, crossed Panama's airspace and finally landed in Lima. According to data provided by FlightRadar24, the 11,086 kilometers were damaged in 15 hours and 20 minutes.

SAS operated the longest non-stop flight in its history

Return flight SK7031 left Jorge Chavez - Lima International Airport on April 2 at 12:28 local time (17:20 UTC), following the same route to Denmark. The flight was a success and all passengers arrived safely in Copenhagen.

In the near future, SAS has no other scheduled flights. He greatly reduced his operations. He also has an A320neo in operational service, flying to Umeå, Kiruna, Luleå and Visby. Other domestic flights are suspended.

As I told you, this performance will go into SAS history. In its 74 years of activity, SAS has had a similar performance. In 2002, he operated an evacuation flight from Denpasar (Bali) to Oslo (Norway). A Boeing 767-300ER was used. The distance traveled was 11.638 km. Even if the distance was greater than 600 kilometers, the flight is not the longest operated by SAS because it required a technical stopover in India.
