Passport services extend their working hours
The passport services Bucharest and Ilfov will extend their working hours with the public in order to manage a greater number of applications and to reduce the crowding.
Thus, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, passport services will run until 18.30, and on Thursdays and Fridays until 16.30. The extended program will be valid during the 23 July - 31 August 2018. The experience of recent years has shown that, during this period, the number of citizens applying for passports is higher compared to the rest of the year.
As part of measures to streamline the activity of issuing passports, at the level of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was ordered to supplement the staff from the counters and to move the passport structures to new premises, which offer decent conditions and waiting areas for citizens. For the Bucharest-Ilfov region, the passport structures operate in two shopping centers Plaza Romania and ParkLake, the total number of counters being 42.
Extended program at the passport services Bucharest
The average processing time of an application is seven minutes at any of the locations. We recommend that citizens make online programming on the site www.epasapoarte.ro, in this case, the waiting time at the counter is zero. We remind that from the 20 July 2018 the amendments brought to Law no. 248 / 2005 regarding the regime of free movement of Romanian citizens abroad at the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the context of the measures taken to reduce the agglomeration from the passport issuance structures in the country and abroad.
The main novelty is to increase the validity of the simple electronic passport for people over 18 years, from 5 to 10 years. It is also changing the conditions for issuing the temporary simple passport. It will only be issued in objective situations, based on documents that justify the urgency of the trip, for family, health or professional reasons, which do not allow the waiting time required for the issuance of an electronic passport.
In such cases, the deadline for resolving the request for issuing the temporary travel document is at most 3 working days. Citizens who do not want a simple electronic passport or cannot present the documents justifying the urgency of the move, will receive a temporary passport within the deadline for issuing the electronic document: maximum 30 of working days, in case of applications submitted in the country, and at most 90 of days working for applications submitted abroad.
